Ron Bolin — Congratulations are due to Council

The agenda for Monday’s (March 1) meeting of Nanaimo’s Finance and Policy Committee of the Whole announces Council’s 2010 pay increase.  Council set a policy of taking salary increases commensurate with the increase in the BC Consumer Price Index which was Zero (0) percent last year.  Accordingly Councillors will receive $26,075 and the mayor $78,526 in 2010, just as they did in 2009.  Congratulation are due to Council for this personal identification with a troubled financial environment in Nanaimo.  But why can’t they bring the staff budget along with them?
